Short answer

A classic Cape Point day takes about 8 hours from Cape Town. It runs down the Atlantic coast via Camps Bay and Hout Bay, over Chapman’s Peak Drive, into Table Mountain National Park for Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, then back along False Bay past the Boulders Beach penguins in Simon’s Town. With Private Driver Service Cape Town you have your own private vehicle and driver for the whole day; see your price in 3 steps.

Tips from the road

  • Pack a windbreaker. Cape Point is often very windy, even on a sunny day.
  • Entrance fees are paid at the gate. Cape Point (Table Mountain National Park) and Boulders Beach charge conservation fees, which are not included in the tour price. International visitors pay a higher rate than South Africans.
  • Chapman’s Peak can close. It sometimes shuts for rockfall risk or bad weather; there is always another way round.
  • Travelling with children or older guests? We slow the pace, cut long walks and plan more stops.
  • Prefer your own plan? Mix it with the city or the Winelands, or change it on the day.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Cape Point day tour take?

About 8 hours from Cape Town, collected from and returned to your accommodation. We can make it shorter or longer to suit you.

Can we see the penguins and Cape Point in one day?

Yes. Boulders Beach in Simon’s Town is on the False Bay side of the same loop, so most Cape Point days include the penguins.

How much does a private Cape Point tour cost?

With Private Driver Service Cape Town the price is for your private vehicle and driver for the whole day (8 hours) and depends on your group size; choose your trip, guests and date on our booking page to see it. Entrance fees for Cape Point and Boulders Beach are paid at the gate.

What if Chapman’s Peak Drive is closed?

It sometimes closes for rockfall risk or bad weather. We then use another route over the mountains, so the day still works.
