What sets the price of a private driver in Cape Town

1. Hours

Most private driver days in Cape Town are priced as a full day. With us a full day is 8 hours, which is enough for Cape Point and the Peninsula, or a relaxed Winelands day in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. If you want a longer day, extra hours can be added. If you are tired by mid-afternoon, you can simply finish early.

2. Distance and route

A day around the city and the Cape Peninsula, or out to the Winelands, is a standard day. Longer routes, such as Hermanus or the Garden Route, cover far more kilometres, so they are quoted for your exact route and number of days.

3. Group size

A private driver is your own vehicle, not a seat on a bus. With us, the price is for the whole group: it is set for up to 4 people, and each extra person adds a small amount, up to 8 guests in one Hyundai H1. For a family or a group of friends, a private car with driver often works out surprisingly close to booking seats on a group tour, with none of the waiting.

4. What is included

This is where quotes differ most. Ours include your private vehicle, your driver-guide and fuel, and pickup from and return to your accommodation. Tolls, parking, entrance fees (for example at Cape Point or Boulders Beach), activities, meals and drinks are extra unless your quote says otherwise. When you compare, check what each quote leaves out.

• Ride-hailing apps are handy for short hops in the city. For a full day with many stops, a driver who waits for you, knows the route and carries your things is simpler, and nobody in your group has to drive.
